One killed after being hit by bus in Hetauda; driver arrested



HETAUDA: A 37-year-old pedestrian was killed after being struck by a bus along the East-West Highway at Master Chowk in Hetauda Sub-Metropolitan City-9, Makawanpur.

According to the District Police Office, Makawanpur, the accident occurred around 11 p.m. on Saturday when a bus (Bagmati Province 03-001 Kha 2656) traveling from Janakpur to Kathmandu hit the pedestrian.

The victim, identified as Ram Bahadur Bohara, a resident of Devdaha Municipality-8 in Rupandehi, sustained critical injuries and was taken to Hetauda Hospital by a police team led by Inspector Kishore Acharya. However, he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival, said Police Spokesperson DSP Pushkar Bogati.

Police said the victim’s identity was initially unknown, but was later confirmed after officers used a SIM card found at the scene to trace his mobile number.

The bus driver, Sujay Kumar Singh, 33, of Ramgopalpur Municipality-6 in Mahottari, has been arrested and taken to the District Police Office, Makawanpur, for further investigation. The bus passengers were later transferred to another vehicle to continue their journey, police added.
