Congress central office-bearers to reconvene Friday

KATHMANDU: The Nepali Congress’s central office-bearers’ meeting, which began today, has been adjourned and will resume at 1:00 pm on Friday.

Dr. Prakash Sharan Mahat, the party spokesperson, said the session chaired by Vice‑President Purna Bahadur Khadka was suspended because members had not finished delivering their positions; speaking will continue tomorrow.

“The discussion is focused on how to safeguard the nation while addressing the political challenges created by recent events and the challenges facing the party, and on how to move the party forward in this special context,” he said. “Speakers who did not finish today will continue tomorrow. There is a view that regular conventions must take place on schedule. We are also discussing whether all procedural requirements can be completed by Mangsir.”

Dr. Mahat said the Congress’s position is that those who set fire to private property, leaders’ homes, businesses and national assets during the Gen‑Z movement must be brought to justice. He warned that failure to act against lawlessness increases the risk of capital flight and expressed dissatisfaction with the Home Ministry’s public account of events, which he said encouraged anarchy.
