Nicholas Bhusal arrested at Maitighar while attempting to lead protest

KATHMANDU: Police have arrested Dr. Nicholas Bhusal and several other youths from Maitighar Mandala on Sunday morning while they attempted to stage a protest.

According to police, Bhusal, along with SP Sah and others, was taken into custody before the demonstration could begin. They were placed in a police van immediately after arriving at the protest site.

The protest was originally planned by a group of Gen-Z youths, but it had been called off earlier. Despite that, Bhusal showed up at Maitighar insisting that the demonstration would go ahead. However, authorities imposed strict security checks in the area, preventing anyone from staging protests.

Bhusal had announced that a peaceful protest would be held from 11 a.m., demanding that the Prime Minister and Home Minister resign if they fail to fulfill the demands raised by Gen-Z activists and to honor the recent martyr. He also said that if necessary, he would “run the government himself” and even amend the constitution to address Gen-Z’s demands.
