KATHMANDU: An agitated crowd of protesters reached the residence of Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba in Budhanilkantha on Tuesday, despite heavy police presence and attempts to block their advance.
The demonstrators, enraged by Monday’s violent crackdown on the Gen-Z-led protest movement, gathered at the gate of Deuba’s residence, hurling stones and shouting slogans against government repression.
Earlier in the day, protesters also vandalized the private residence of Maoist Center Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ in Khumaltar, following the torching of a nearby police post.
Public outrage has intensified following Monday’s protest, which turned deadly after police reportedly used excessive force. At least 19 people were killed during the crackdown, fueling calls for accountability and political change.
