Agriculture Minister Ramnath Adhikari resigns

KATHMANDU: Agriculture Minister Ramnath Adhikari has submitted his resignation, citing moral responsibility in the aftermath of Monday’s Gen-Z protests.

Minister Adhikari expressed remorse over the deaths of young protesters and said he could no longer remain in office without accountability.

“It was unbearable for me to stay in power without seeking answers for how a generation we are supposed to collaborate with ended up being treated as if at war. I am resigning from my position,” he stated.

He added that he was submitting his resignation to the government as a moral obligation to the country and the people and to seek forgiveness for the incident while holding official responsibility.
