KATHMANDU: Defying the curfew order, members of the Gen-Z youth movement resumed protests early Tuesday morning in front of the Federal Parliament building at New Baneshwor.
The demonstrators, many of them friends and relatives of the 19 young people killed during Monday’s crackdown, gathered to denounce the government and demand accountability.
A heavy security presence has been deployed around the parliament complex, with units of the Nepal Army, Armed Police Force, and Nepal Police stationed at key points. Security personnel were seen reinforcing barricades and barbed wire. On Monday, protesters had briefly entered the parliament compound and vandalized property, prompting authorities to tighten security.
Meanwhile, the District Administration Office in Kathmandu, Bhaktapur and Lalitpur have imposed an indefinite curfew from 8:30 am today, prohibiting rallies, gatherings, or demonstrations. Despite the restrictions, protesters continued their mobilization, heightening tensions in the capital.
