Kailali prison incident: Chief Minister Shah meets Home Minister



KATHMANDU: Sudurpaschim Province Chief Minister Kamal Bahadur Shah met with Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak on Saturday to discuss the ongoing situation at Kailali Prison. The meeting took place at the Home Minister’s official residence in Bhaisepati.

According to the Chief Minister’s Secretariat, discussions covered the recent incident at Kailali Prison, along with matters related to peace and security in the province and disaster management.

On Friday night, an altercation among inmates inside the prison resulted in the death of Bharat Chaudhary of Dhangadhi Sub-Metropolitan City–4. The clash also left 47 others injured, who are currently undergoing treatment.

Authorities have yet to confirm the exact extent of the damage. Inmates have locked the main gate of the detention block from inside and placed gas cylinders at the entrance, warning they will ignite them if anyone attempts to enter.
