Youth goes missing after being swept away by river in Mustang



MUSTANG: A young man has gone missing after being swept away by a river in Mustang while picking mushrooms in the forest.

Himal BK, 23, a resident of Nisi Khola Rural Municipality-6 in Baglung district and currently working at Eco Bro Agriculture Farm in Fentang, Gharpajhong-5, Mustang for the past six months, has been missing since Friday, according to the District Police Office, Mustang.

Police Inspector Bikash Chhetri said that a group of five people, including their wives, were picking mushrooms in the Kobhang Phedi forest when the river’s water level suddenly rose, sweeping BK away.

Dillijang Gurung, a resident of the same area, informed the District Police Office about the incident after Bik was carried away by the Dhumba River.

Inspector Chhetri said an eight-member police team led by Mustang Police Chief Tshiring Kippa Lama and a seven-member team under Assistant Police Inspector Suraj Shrestha have been deployed to search for the missing youth.
