KATHMANDU: The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has demanded that the government expedite the search operation for those missing in Bhotekoshi flood, to provide free and reliable medical treatment to the injured.
A press release issued on Wednesday by NHRC Spokesperson Dr Tikaram Pokharel asked the bodies concerned to provide appropriate compensation to the families of those killed in flood and landslide, relief to the affected families and to resume vehicular movement.
“It is necessary to make supply of daily essentials smooth by controlling black marketing that might take place during a crisis, as well as effective planning for the activities to be carried out during pre-disaster, disaster and post-disaster period”, reads the statement.
The NHRC also urged the government to remain alert about human rights violation cases that might occur during a disaster, requesting one and all to support the state bodies in their respective roles during the disaster.
It also thanked the security bodies and other respective bodies deputed to reduce losses of lives and properties after the floods.
The NHRC said it has received information that nine human bodies were recovered, 19 people were missing, dozens of people were injured as well as physical property including vehicles, buildings, roads and hydropower projects were damaged due to flood.
A team of the NHRC had reached Rasuwa for the monitoring of the incident, reads the press statement.
