Landslide blocks road linking Syangja and Parbat

SYANGJA: The vital Bhumbre–Hatemalochok road connecting Syangja and southern Parbat districts has been blocked due to a landslide triggered by continuous rainfall since last night.

According to Bodhraj Kunwar (Raju), the ward chair of Waling Municipality-14, the landslide occurred near Dumre Bhanjyang, bringing down rocks and debris that have completely obstructed the road.

The ongoing rain and continued falling of debris from above the road have stranded passengers and halted vehicular movement.

Efforts are underway to clear the blockage, with an excavator already dispatched to the site. However, due to the severity of the slide, authorities expect it may take some time to reopen the road.

In the meantime, travelers are being advised to use the Dumrebhanjyang–Dhikidanda–Tamadi route as an alternative.

The Bhumbre–Hatemalochok road is especially prone to landslides during the monsoon season. Serving as a key connector between southern Parbat and the Siddhartha Highway, it handles hundreds of passenger and cargo vehicles daily.
