DAMAULI: The construction of the ‘Sky Walk’ at Ainapahara, a growing tourist destination in Aanbukhaireni Rural Municipality of Tanahun, is nearing completion. Initiated in the second week of the previous month, the project has now entered its final phase.
The sky walk has been developed in Aanbukhaireni Rural Municipality–2 with the aim of establishing Ainapahara as a major tourism hub, said Rural Municipality Chairperson Shukra Chuman.
Built at a cost of Rs 1.5 million, preparations are underway to bring it into commercial operation within a few days.
Spanning 57 meters in length and rising 50 meters above ground, the structure features one-foot spacing between each step to enhance the sense of adventure.
“Visitors can enjoy a unique walking experience surrounded by lush greenery, tranquil mountain views, and open skies. There’s no need for fear, as the structure is built to high safety standards,” Chuman added.
As the area has grown increasingly popular among domestic tourists, the rural municipality has invested in additional infrastructure. Chuman expressed confidence that the sky walk will boost both tourism and adventure activities in the region.
Situated along the Prithvi Highway, Ainapahara has seen a sharp rise in visitor numbers, especially on weekends. “On Saturdays alone, more than a thousand tourists visit,” said Aash Bahadur Gurung, ward chair of Aanbukhaireni–2. The site is especially attractive due to its accessibility and artistic features, including sculptures carved into the rocks.
The rural municipality has already earned more than Rs 6 million from Ainapahara tourism. To enhance its appeal, a garden has been built, and several stone carvings—including a waterfall-side figure of Lord Ganesh, a mother and child, and an angel—have been added.
The waterfall is fed by the Siudi River, which flows from the base of Chimkeshwari, the highest peak in the Mahabharat range in Tanahun. A detailed master plan has been prepared for the site’s development, estimating a total budget of Rs 100 million.
According to the plan, the area will include new structures such as a Buddha statue, railings, and parking facilities.
