HoR meeting set for 2 PM amid continued opp’n obstruction

KATHMANDU: A meeting of the House of Representatives under the Federal Parliament is scheduled for 2 PM today at the Parliament Building in New Baneshwor.

In the meeting, Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Poudel will present a proposal, along with a statement, to initiate a general discussion on the annual estimate of revenue and expenditure for the fiscal year 2082–083.

Deliberations on the proposal are also expected during the session, according to the Federal Parliament Secretariat.

Similarly, Ramhari Khatiwada, Chairperson of the State Affairs and Good Governance Committee, will present the committee’s report on the Federal Civil Service Bill, 2082.

The agenda also includes the Speaker reading out letters received from the Office of the Prime Minister and the Council of Ministers regarding official assignments.

However, the meeting continues to face disruption due to protests from opposition parties, including the main opposition, over the visit visa controversy. These obstructions have stalled parliamentary proceedings, preventing the House from moving forward with its regular agenda.

Despite efforts by the Speaker, who held talks with party chief whips on Sunday to resolve the impasse, no breakthrough was achieved as both the ruling and opposition sides stood firm on their respective positions.
