Lingden and Thapa at airport to welcome former king

KATHMANDU: Rastriya Prajatantra Party Nepal (RPP-N) Chair Kamal Thapa and RPP Chair Rajendra Lingden arrived at Tribhuvan International Airport to welcome former King Gyanendra Shah.

Supporters of the former monarch, along with royalist parties and organizations, have planned a rally from the airport to Nirmal Niwas upon his arrival from Pokhara. Gatherings have already formed in areas like Gaushala and Tinkune in preparation for the rally.

Gyanendra, who had been staying in Pokhara and visiting districts in Gandaki Province, is set to arrive in Kathmandu this afternoon.

With large-scale royalist demonstrations expected, security forces in Kathmandu have been placed on high alert.

Authorities have increased security deployments at sensitive locations, including Narayanhiti Palace Museum, Tribhuvan International Airport, and key intersections across the capital.

The government has also prepared to mobilize all four security forces if necessary, as thousands of royalist supporters are expected to participate in the rally.
