House panel inspects fire-damaged Ministry, stresses on management of electric wiring



KATHMANDU: The Infrastructure Development Committee, the House of Representatives today carried out a field inspection to the Ministry of Water Supplies that witnessed a fire on Saturday.

The Committee team including President Deepak Bahadur Singh visited the room of Minister Pradeep Yadav. The room was damaged by the recent fire.

Talking to media following the inspection, the Committee President highlighted the need of checking the stats of electric wire within the offices at the Singha Durbar, underlining the need of preparedness to prevent such incident to reoccur in the future.

Though the fire did not cause any human casualty, it resulted in a significant property loss, he said.

The fire that erupted at 8:45 am on Saturday (Feb 8)   damaged three rooms of the Ministry, causing the property loss over Rs five million.

Meanwhile Minister for Water Supply, Yadav, shifted to a new office today.
The fire that was caused by short circuit on Saturday morning massively damaged his previous office.

The Minister resumed his duty from a new office room, set up temporarily, according to his private Secretariat.

The new office is based room number 407 in the third floor of the Ministry building, it is said.

The fire, caused by an electrical short circuit, severely damaged his previous office, destroying two television sets, one desktop computer, a water heating machine, furniture, and CCTV monitors.
