KATHMANDU: Janata Samajbadi Party (JSP) Nepal Chair Upendra Yadav has denied engaging in political bargaining for joining the government.

Speaking to journalists at the Parliament building in New Baneshwor on Sunday, Yadav stated that his party is not currently in a position to join the government.

He dismissed allegations that JSP was delaying the passage of ordinances in Parliament, stating that his party is still studying the matter and will take a decision once the ordinances are formally introduced.

“We are positive about the ordinances and will make decisions in the interest of the country and the people. The delay is not due to us,” he said.

Yadav also refuted claims that JSP was demanding ministerial positions in exchange for support.

“We are not in a government-seeking mode. Our priority is to work for the country and the people, not to secure ministries,” he asserted.

The ordinances can be easily passed in the House of Representatives, but in the National Assembly, JSP’s three votes are crucial.

This has created uncertainty, as the ruling coalition fears rejection and has yet to table the ordinances in both houses of Parliament.
