KATHMANDU: Medical entrepreneur Durga Prasai has posted bail following a court order. He had been accused of extorting financial benefits by threatening Nepali businessmen under the guise of notorious Indian gangster Lawrence Bishnoi.
The Kathmandu District Court, presided over by Judge Thakur Prasad Kharel, set the bail amount at Rs 300, 000 after Thursday’s detention hearing.
On January 8, the District Government Attorney’s Office filed charges against Prasai and three of his associates under allegations of organized extortion.
Alongside Prasai, Harichandra Phuyal from Panchthar and Ramchandra Mainali from Tehrathum were also named as defendants. The court has also granted their release on bail.
