Arjun Narsingh KC criticizes PM Oli for disrespecting agreement with Nepali Congress

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress leader Arjun Narsingh KC has criticized Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli for disrespecting the seven-point agreement.

Speaking at an event in Kathmandu on Thursday, KC stated that the Prime Minister’s remark that constitutional amendments would only occur in 2031 was an insult to the seven-point agreement.

KC said while the final conclusion on constitutional amendments may take time, the process must begin now.

He called for collaboration not just among parties in Parliament, but with all stakeholders for the amendment process. He also suggested the formation of an all-party mechanism, as he believes that the two main parties alone cannot accomplish the task.

Earlier, during the ruling party’s central committee meeting from January 5 to 7, Oli had stated that constitutional amendments would not take place until January 2031.

This comment had also been criticized by Nepali Congress General Secretary Bishwa Prakash Sharma at a public event in Jhapa on Wednesday.
