HoR election 87 days away as EC finalizes election symbols



KATHMANDU: The Election Commission (EC) has finalized and distributed election symbols for the House of Representatives (HoR) election scheduled for March 5, 2026.

A total of 120 political parties had applied to participate in the election. According to Commission spokesperson Narayan Prasad Bhattarai, 102 political parties have been assigned individual election symbols, while 12 parties, applying as joint alliances, have been given shared symbols.

In total, 107 election symbols have been issued for the upcoming polls. Although 143 political parties are registered with the Commission, 114 will be contesting the election, using the 107 approved symbols.

Among the symbols assigned by the Commission, the first four are the sun (CPN-UML), the tree (Nepali Congress), the star (Nepali Communist Party), and the bell (Rastriya Swatantra Party).
