Flights disrupted as TIA runway closed; Fly Dubai plane diverted to Lucknow



KATHMANDU: Several domestic and international flights were disrupted on Saturday evening after Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) temporarily shut down its runway due to technical issues.

The Civil Aviation Authority issued a Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) closing the runway following problems detected in the airfield lighting system.

According to airport officials, the malfunction halted both arrivals and departures. A Qatar Airways flight from Doha was placed on hold in the air, while other flights arriving via Delhi were also instructed to circle.

Meanwhile, a Fly Dubai aircraft was diverted to Lucknow, India. The disruption has affected more than a dozen flights, many of which have been either canceled or rerouted to alternative airports.
