Flights disrupted at TIA after runway lights malfunction

KATHMANDU: Flight operations at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) have been suspended after a technical problem occurred in the runway lighting system.

According to airport sources, both take-offs and landings have been halted for nearly three hours due to the issue.

A Korean Air flight bound for Kathmandu has been diverted to Delhi, while aircraft from Qatar Airways, Fly Dubai, and Nepal Airlines are currently holding in the skies above Simara, waiting for clearance to land.

Efforts are underway to restore the lighting system and resume normal flight operations, airport officials said.
