Private sector urges government to endorse protection and promotion program

KATHMANDU: The private sector has called on the government to take special initiatives to ensure business security and endorse a comprehensive protection and promotion program.

Speaking at a program organized by the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) on Saturday, FNCCI President Chandra Prasad Dhakal urged the government to immediately pass the Private Sector Protection and Promotion Program (PSPPP) through the Cabinet to guarantee business security.

“The private sector contributes nearly 81 percent of the country’s revenue and 86 percent of total employment,” Dhakal said. “Recognizing this contribution, the state must ensure that no form of attack or obstruction occurs against private enterprises and that all agencies provide swift and integrated services for business security.”

Dhakal emphasized that the proposed PSPPP would help strengthen confidence in the business community, enhance coordination between government and private sectors, and safeguard investments crucial for Nepal’s economic growth.
