Madhesh border points with Bihar to remain closed for 72 hours ahead of Indian state elections

MAHOTTARI: Eleven border points connecting Nepal’s Mahottari district with India’s Bihar state have been closed for 72 hours in view of the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections scheduled for next Tuesday.

According to Mahottari Chief District Officer Indra Dev Yadav, the closure came into effect from 6 PM today and will remain in force until 6 PM on November 11, coinciding with the second phase of Bihar’s state assembly elections.

Yadav said that strict security measures have been enforced along the Nepal–India border to maintain peace and order during the election period.

Issuing a public notice, the District Administration Office, Mahottari, informed that all movement across the border, except for essential humanitarian services, has been completely restricted until the election concludes.
