EC sends letters to political parties for discussion

KATHMANDU: The Election Commission has summoned political parties on October 16 for discussions related to the House of Representatives election scheduled for March 5.

Commissioner Dr. Janaki Kumari Tuladhar said the invitation was sent to parties that had representation in the dissolved House of Representatives and those that won at least one ward member in the last election, to discuss preparations for the upcoming polls.

The Commission has reportedly sent letters to the Nepali Congress, CPN-UML, CPN (Maoist Centre), Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP), among others.

Although the Commission released the election schedule on October 6, Dr. Tuladhar clarified that the schedule was for internal planning purposes, and final decisions on the election program will be made after discussions with political parties.
