Repairs begin on Syafru–Rasuwagadhi road section

RASUWA: Repair work has begun on the Syafru–Rasuwagadhi road section, which was severely damaged by continuous rainfall on October 4.

Excavators from Gosainkunda Rural Municipality and dozers from the Road Department are being deployed to clear and restore the damaged areas. More than 20 locations along the 16-kilometer stretch from Yangyang to Rasuwagadhi have been affected by landslides.

According to Krishnanath Ojha, head of the Galchhi–Trishuli–Mailung–Syafrubesi Road Improvement Project, the repair work is a joint effort between the Road Department and the rural municipality.

Gosainkunda Rural Municipality has confirmed that the repair costs will be covered by local government bodies. The road had previously sustained damage during last year’s monsoon season in July and August and had only recently been repaired and reopened. This marks the third time it has been blocked due to floods and landslides.

Meanwhile, construction of the Miteri Bridge over the Lhende River is progressing rapidly, with the Bailey bridge expected to be completed by Tihar. The border crossing between Nepal and China has remained closed since the original bridge was swept away by floods on July 8.
