One killed in police firing during Itahari protest



SUNSARI: One person has died after police opened fire amid rising tensions following an arson attack on the Itahari Sub-Metropolitan City office by protesters.

The incident occurred when Gen-Z demonstrators, protesting against the government, set fire to the municipal office building in Itahari. Police fired shots while trying to control the situation, resulting in one fatality.

The arson caused significant damage to the office, with government documents, furniture, and other materials set ablaze outside the building.

Earlier, as the protest escalated, the Sunsari administration had imposed a curfew in Itahari. The Gen-Z protesters began their demonstration at 11 a.m., gathering at the city’s main square before moving to the Sub-Metropolitan office, where the violence and arson occurred.
