Supreme Court Bar Association urges government to suspend social media ban

KATHMANDU: The Supreme Court Bar Association has demanded that the government immediately suspend its decision to block social media platforms.

In a statement, SCBA Secretary Raman Kumar Karn said social media serves as a key medium for citizens’ expression and communication, and therefore the ban should be lifted without delay.

The association also called for free medical treatment for all those injured during the protests and adequate compensation for the families of the deceased.

“The SCBA notes with concern that the nationwide protests led by the ‘Gen-Z’ generation against corruption, irregularities, and malpractices have resulted in injuries to demonstrators and even fatalities among sovereign citizens,” Karn said.
