KATHMANDU: Ramhari Khatiwada, newly sworn-in chair of the Joint Parliamentary Hearing Committee, has pledged to carry out his role impartially.
Speaking after taking the oath, Khatiwada emphasized that the committee would not endorse any individual or proposal wrongly recommended for hearings. He highlighted that the Constitutional Council’s structure, comprising the Prime Minister, Speaker, Chief Justice, National Assembly Chair, Leader of the Opposition, and Deputy Speaker, ensures multiple levels of oversight.
“Even if someone is wrongly recommended, I am committed to not approving it,” Khatiwada said, affirming his dedication to fairness in committee proceedings.
Khatiwada also recalled his tenure as chair of the State Affairs and Good Governance Committee, noting that he resigned once to take moral responsibility for others’ mistakes, demonstrating his commitment to accountability and impartiality.
