Protesters breach Parliament, police fire warning shots

KATHMANDU: Chaos erupted at the Parliament premises today when Gen-Z protesters entered through the southern gate, prompting security forces to fire warning shots into the air.

Eyewitnesses reported that dozens of tear gas canisters were also used by the police in an effort to disperse the crowd. Amid the confusion, demonstrators reportedly seized a vehicle belonging to the Armed Police Force.

The protest, part of a nationwide movement by youths born between 1997 and 2012, is aimed at opposing corruption and nepotism. Authorities have reinforced security around the Parliament building as the situation continues to develop.
