Nepali Congress prepares performance guidelines for elected representatives at all three levels

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress has drafted a performance guideline for its elected representatives at the local, provincial, and federal levels.

The guideline was finalized on Friday at the residence of party president Sher Bahadur Deuba in Budhanilkantha.

Earlier, the Central Working Committee meeting held on July 7 had passed the initial version of the performance guideline for representatives and decided to approve the final version after necessary revisions.

According to the committee’s decision, the final version of the guideline was shaped during a meeting of the party president, vice president, and general secretaries on Wednesday, party chief secretary Krishna Prasad Paudel informed.

“The recent Central Working Committee meeting had passed the performance guideline for representatives at various levels and asked for its revision and final approval. After thorough discussion, the guideline was prepared incorporating suggestions from the president, vice president, and general secretaries,” Paudel told Khabarhub.

In addition, the Congress has also prepared Terms of Reference (ToR) for the director committees assigned to complete pending conventions of the party’s seven affiliated organizations.

The Central Working Committee had assigned the responsibility of conducting these remaining conventions to the director committees.

“The director committees will conduct the pending conventions of affiliated organizations, and the party will provide them with the Terms of Reference. This ToR has also been finalized today. These were the two main issues discussed,” said Paudel.

The Budhanilkantha meeting was attended by party president Sher Bahadur Deuba, vice president Purna Bahadur Khadka, and general secretaries Gagan Kumar Thapa and Bishwoprakash Sharma.

There had been rumors that the meeting would discuss the matter of Ram Hari Khatiwada, chairperson of the State Affairs and Good Governance Committee, but Paudel denied any such discussion.

“Ram Hari’s name was not even mentioned in today’s meeting,” he said.
