KATHMANDU: UML Secretary Lekhraj Bhatta has stated that party Chairperson KP Sharma Oli is the leader needed in the current political situation.
Bhatta made these remarks while addressing the Press Chautari Nepal’s Sudurpashchim Province-level training and second plenary meeting held in Mahendranagar, Kanchanpur.
He emphasized that there is no need to idolize the leadership. Although Oli’s actions may be difficult to understand immediately, Bhatta said Oli possesses an extraordinary ability whose true meaning will become clear in the future. “Supporting Oli is a necessity of the present situation, not motivated by personality worship,” he added.
Bhatt described UML as the ideological and theoretical center of the country’s communist movement and asserted that the leadership capable of making things happen rests firmly in Oli’s hands.
“For nationalism, KP Oli is the current and rightful leader. In terms of power, organization, and support, UML is the number one party,” he claimed confidently.
Acknowledging some internal problems within UML, Bhatta called for the party to focus on self-reform. “There is no other leader in Nepal who works as hard, dreams as big, and remains as active as Oli,” he said.
He also expressed commitment to upholding the dignity of the presidential institution, explaining that this is why former President Bidya Devi Bhandari was not allowed to return to active politics. “We have resolved to honor the President by allowing her to stay respectfully, recognizing the dignity and pride of the republic,” Bhatta stated.
He further noted that expressions of support or dissent outside of party meetings no longer carry weight.
The program was attended by UML Standing Committee member Bhanbhakta Dhakal, Press Chautari Central Chairperson Ganesh Pandey, UML Politburo member Nirudevi Pal, Province Chief Krishna Prasad Jaisi, Press Chautari Vice Chairperson Chetan Adhikari, and General Secretary Hiram Lama, among others.
