Butwal–Narayangadh road blocked again

KATHMANDU: The Butwal–Narayangadh section of the East-West Highway has been blocked again, disrupting traffic in Nawalparasi (Bardghat Susta East). The obstruction occurred in Daunne, Binayi Tribeni Rural Municipality-2.

According to Superintendent of Police Yadav Dhakal of the District Police Office, rainfall has turned the road near Paisathi Mode into a muddy, slippery stretch, causing vehicles to get stuck and halting movement entirely.

The Daunne stretch, which had been blocked since Monday morning due to continuous rainfall, was briefly reopened but has faced repeated closures. “Even in light rain, vehicles struggle to move, and trucks often get stuck on the muddy road. The uphill stretch for westbound vehicles is particularly problematic,” Dhakal said.

Authorities report that the obstruction has significantly disrupted travel, and repair work is underway to reopen the road. The section near the Bishwakarma Temple in Binayi Tribeni has seen repeated blockages.

Due to hillside cutting during the road expansion of the Daunne section, even moderate rainfall now triggers blockages in this area.
