KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, along with key government officials, is set to visit Rasuwa to assess the damage caused by the devastating flood in the Bhote Koshi River.
The flood, which struck the northern district early Tuesday, has resulted in significant loss of life and property.
Joining the prime minister on the visit is Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak, who confirmed the team’s plan to conduct an on-site inspection in the flood-affected areas of Rasuwa on Tuesday itself.
Speaking ahead of the visit, Home Minister Lekhak said, “The damage in Rasuwa is extensive. We will first conduct a ground assessment and then hold a meeting to take necessary decisions.”
The flood, which originated from the northern border with China, washed away the Miteri Bridge that connects Nepal and China via the Rasuwagadhi border point. According to authorities, at least 18 individuals have been reported missing following the disaster.
The visit comes as rescue efforts continue and concerns mount over infrastructure damage, missing persons, and disrupted trade links with China.
