19-year-old dies after drowning in Rapti canal



RAPTI: A 19-year-old youth has died after drowning in the Rapti river canal in Banke district.

Kamal Darji, a resident of Nepalgunj Sub-metropolitan City-7, drowned in the canal at Agaiya, Rapti Sonari Rural Municipality-2, according to the District Police Office, Banke.

Eyewitnesses alerted the police after Darji, who worked as a tailor, went missing while swimming on Saturday afternoon.

The police, Nepal Army, and locals later recovered his body during a search operation, said Deepak Patali, Deputy Superintendent of Police at the District Police Office, Banke.

Further investigation into the incident is ongoing, the police added.
