Deepak Bahadur Singh warns of political change, compares situation to Bangladesh

KATHMANDU: Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) Member of Parliament (MP) Deepak Bahadur Singh has warned that the political situation in Nepal could change dramatically if the public takes to the streets, drawing a comparison to the political unrest in Bangladesh.

Singh, speaking at a recent political gathering, emphasized that the movement to restore the monarchy is not just the cause of the RPP, but a movement for all Nepali people.

He referred to the ongoing push for a return to monarchy as a fight against the injustice faced by the Nepali population.

“This movement is a movement against the injustice of the Nepali people. Let us all be careful,” Singh said.

He went on to directly address Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak, accusing them of causing harm to ordinary citizens by using excessive force against peaceful protesters.

Singh warned that the political climate in Nepal could escalate, drawing a parallel with Bangladesh’s recent history of political upheaval.

“I can also tell Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak from here that they are shooting at random people and the price of this may be high. Tomorrow, the people take Bangladesh’s example and come to the street and demand change,” he said

The RPP, which advocates for the restoration of the monarchy in Nepal, has been vocal in its opposition to the current republican system, calling for reforms and what they consider a return to a more stable and traditional form of governance.
