Urgency to remove obstacles, end violence against women: Foreign Minister Deuba



KATHMANDU: Minister for Foreign Affairs Dr Arzu Rana Deuba called for collective efforts to end violence against women (VAW) and all other obstacles on women empowerment.

In a congratulatory message on the occasion of the International Women’s Day-2025 today, Minister Rana bemoaned,” Even at present, women continue to face various sorts of discrimination and violence. We need concerted efforts to do away with these obstacles.”

Acknowledging the progresses achieved in country’s women movements, the Minister lamented that the basic needs of Nepali citizens were still unaddressed compared to the developed nations.

Minister Rana reflected her longstanding advocacy on advancing gender cause, and reaffirmed her commitment towards women empowerment and gender equality. “I would like to reaffirm my commitment on this day to drive policy reform that ensures that the voices of women are heard,” she vowed.

The Minister called on everyone to enhance capacity of women, especially those from rural areas and marginalized communities, thereby increasing their access to the governance.

On the occasion, the Minister also urged everyone to work in unison to ensure a bright future for the adolescent girls.
