Four international airlines operating regular flights from Gautam Buddha International Airport

BHAIRAHAWA: Four international airlines have begun regular operations from Gautam Buddha International Airport (GBIA) in Bhairahawa.

This marks a significant improvement in the airport’s operations, which were previously hindered by weather conditions and low passenger turnout.

Currently, Nepal Airlines Corporation (Nepal Airlines), Kuwait-based Jazeera Airways, Dubai’s national carrier Fly Dubai, and Thailand-headquartered Thai Air Asia are conducting regular international flights from the airport.

According to Pratap Babu Tiwari, General Manager of GBIA, the recent surge in international flights is expected to enhance the airport’s viability and attract more airlines in the near future.

Nepal Airlines is operating flights on the Kuala Lumpur-Bhairahawa-Kathmandu route. Jazeera Airways and Thai Air Asia resumed flights on February 6, while Fly Dubai resumed operations a month ago. Jazeera Airways and Thai Air Asia initially started flights in October of last year.

The airport office reports that in February alone, a total of 6,879 passengers were transported through 115 flights from Gautam Buddha International Airport.
