20 Nepalis stranded in Thailand repatriated

KATHMANDU: Twenty Nepali citizens stranded in Thailand have been rescued and repatriated to Nepal, the Nepali Embassy in Thailand confirmed on Friday.

The individuals had been taken to Thailand on January 24 via New Delhi, India, lured by false promises of high-paying jobs. However, they found themselves stranded and in need of rescue.

In a statement issued on Friday, the embassy urged Nepalis to seek foreign employment only through legal channels, ensuring proper government approval. It also warned against falling for fraudulent job offers that promise quick and easy money.

Furthermore, the embassy strongly advised against traveling to Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, and other nations where employment conditions violate government standards.

It has called on the public to help spread awareness about the risks associated with illegal foreign employment schemes.
