Finance Minister discusses Nepal’s policy and structural reforms with IMF



KATHMANDU: Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Paudel said the government is focusing on both policy and structural reforms to strengthen Nepal’s economy.

During a meeting with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) Fifth Review Mission team, Paudel highlighted that the economy is showing signs of improvement and that the ongoing policy and structural reforms will play a crucial role in achieving further progress.

Paudel mentioned that the government is paying special attention to addressing economic issues through laws, policies, and dialogue while advancing reform efforts.

He also noted that suggestions from the international community will be adapted according to Nepal’s national context and needs.

He underscored the importance of the success of the fifth review with the IMF, expressing confidence in continued cooperation and coordination from Nepal’s side.

Paudel also requested the review mission to engage in further dialogue and consultations with the relevant authorities on the issues raised concerning economic reforms.

The IMF team, led by Sarwat Jahan, informed that the review of past reform programs is ongoing, and groundwork for future actions is also being undertaken.
