Nepal’s Ambassador to South Korea presents credentials to Acting President



KATHMANDU: Nepal’s Ambassador to the Republic of Korea, Dr Shiva Maya Tumbahamphe, presented her credentials to the Acting President of the Republic of Korea, Choi Sang-mok.

The ceremony, held in Seoul on Tuesday, marked the official presentation of the credentials. After the presentation, Tumbahamphe had a courtesy meeting with Choi, as confirmed by the Nepali Embassy in Seoul.

During the meeting, Tumbahamphe highlighted the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Nepal and Korea, emphasizing the importance of enhancing bilateral ties.

She stressed that high-level visits would play a crucial role in strengthening the relationship further.

Tumbahamphe also expressed confidence that the embassy would have opportunities to facilitate such visits by May of the coming year.

In her commitment to strengthening relations between the two countries during her tenure, Tumbahamphe acknowledged the significant contribution of over one hundred thousand Nepali workers in the Republic of Korea, who have not only promoted people-to-people relations but also contributed to the economy.

Choi warmly welcomed Tumbahamphe as Nepal’s Ambassador to the Republic of Korea and pledged to provide full support in promoting Nepal-Korea relations. He also wished her a successful tenure.

Through Choi, Tumbahamphe extended deep condolences to the families of those who lost their lives in the plane crash in the Republic of Korea on December 29, conveying sympathy from the Nepalis government and herself.

Present at the event were Deputy Chief of Mission of the Nepali Embassy, Pushparaj Bhattarai, Republic of Korea’s Foreign Minister Choi Tai Yul, Chief of Protocol, and other senior officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
