NA Chair Dahal urges government to reconsider reduction of parliamentary facilities

KATHMANDU: National Assembly Chair Narayan Prasad Dahal has urged the government to reconsider its decision to reduce certain facilities provided to federal parliament officials and members.

Speaking at the National Assembly’s Business Advisory Committee meeting held at Singha Durbar on Friday, Chair Dahal said essential facilities for parliamentarians should not be cut, even as the government implements measures for fiscal prudence.

He highlighted the National Assembly’s role in facilitating government functioning and instructed the authorities to convene meetings promptly while ensuring necessary infrastructure. Dahal also directed that committees under the National Assembly create an environment where ministers attend hearings when summoned.

Additionally, he informed the committee that the publication of a book documenting the two-year tenure of the National Assembly has been entrusted to a subcommittee and is expected to be released on schedule.
