Nepal Police will perform in line with Gen Z’s aspirations: AIG Karki

KATHMANDU: Chief of the Kathmandu Valley Police Office, Ranipokhari, Additional Inspector General (AIG) Dan Bahadur Karki has said that the Nepal Police is committed to fulfilling the aspirations of Generation Z for development, good governance, and a corruption-free society.

Speaking at a programme organized today to hand over the reconstructed building of the Police Sector at New Bus Park, AIG Karki emphasized that meeting Gen Z’s expectations aligns with the broader hopes of the Nepali people. The original police building had been torched and damaged during the Gen Z protests on September 9.

AIG Karki highlighted the importance of cooperation between the police and the public in ensuring security, especially in sensitive areas such as Gongabu and the New Bus Park, which witness heavy daily movement.

“Around 10,000 people pass through the Gongabu area every day. The safety of each citizen is the responsibility of the state and the Nepal Police,” he stated.

He informed that out of 193 police offices damaged during the Gen Z protests across the Kathmandu Valley, 180 have been reconstructed with active participation from local citizens.

AIG Karki expressed confidence that police personnel would now be able to perform their duties with renewed morale and commitment from the newly rebuilt facility.

Similarly, Tokha Municipality Mayor Prakash Adhikari underscored that the reconstruction of the police building with community-level support demonstrated the strong relationship between the Nepal Police and the public.
