Over 1,300 houses affected by floods in Sunsari



INARUWA: More than 1,300 houses have been affected by flooding triggered by continuous rainfall on Saturday and Sunday in Sunsari district.

According to Superintendent of Police Keshav Thebe, the floods have impacted 1,370 houses across several municipalities, including Dharan, Itahari, Barahakshetra, Duhabi, Ramdhuni, Inaruwa, Gadhi, Barju, Koshi, Bhokraha, Harinagar, and Dewangunj.

The floods have directly affected 5,474 people, with many homes partially damaged after floodwaters entered the settlements, SP Thebe said.

Security personnel rescued 344 individuals trapped by floodwaters in different areas, he added.

In the district headquarters Inaruwa, about 200 families have been displaced after floods from the Sunsari River in the west and the Gadn Khola in the east inundated several settlements, including wards 3, 4, 9 (Babiya) and 10 (Jalpapur) of Inaruwa Municipality.
