Death toll in Ilam landslide rises to 39



ILAM: The death toll from the recent landslides in Ilam district has risen to 39.

The body of 24-year-old Prabesh Gurung of Sandakpur-5, Ingla, Jamuna — who had gone missing after being swept away by the Ingla River — was recovered today, according to local ward member Kumar Gurung.

Prabesh had been missing since yesterday; only his sweater and hoodie were initially found. His body was discovered about 400 meters downstream from where he was last seen.

One person remains missing. Mahendra Limbu of Ilam Municipality-6 was swept away along with his house in the landslide and has not yet been located.
