T20 Series: Nepal defeats Malaysia by six wickets



KATHMANDU: Nepal secured a six-wicket victory over Malaysia in the fourth match of the ongoing international T20 series, leveling the five-match series 2-2.

Batting first after winning the toss, Malaysia posted 111 runs for the loss of five wickets in their allotted 20 overs. Mas Alisa was the standout performer for Malaysia, scoring a half-century with 56 runs off 63 balls.

Nepal’s bowlers put in a disciplined performance to restrict Malaysia. Kabita Kunwar led the attack with impressive figures of 3 wickets for just 10 runs in her four-over spell. Puja Mahato and Kabita Joshi chipped in with one wicket each.

In response, Nepal chased down the target in 17.3 overs, scoring 115 for 4. Captain Indu Barma anchored the innings with an unbeaten 48 off 39 balls, falling just two runs short of a well-deserved half-century. Rubina Chhetri provided solid support, remaining not out on 23 off 23 deliveries. The pair shared a crucial partnership to guide Nepal to victory.

The Nepali women’s team had lost the first match by three runs, bounced back to win the second by six wickets, and fell short in the third match by 13 runs. With this latest win, Nepal has drawn level in the series. The decisive fifth and final match will be played on Wednesday.
