Weather forecast: Monsoon winds weakening across Nepal



KATHMANDU: The monsoon winds across Nepal are gradually weakening, according to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology’s Weather Forecasting Division.

Despite the weakening trend, westerly winds are still influencing many areas in the western parts of Sudurpaschim, Karnali, and Lumbini provinces, as well as a few areas in western Gandaki Province, the division reported.

According to the weather bulletin, skies will remain generally cloudy in Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim provinces, as well as in other hilly regions, while the Terai plains are expected to be partly cloudy today.

There is a possibility of moderate rainfall accompanied by thunder and lightning in the hilly and Terai areas of Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim provinces, along with a few places in the hilly areas of other provinces and isolated spots in the remaining Terai regions.

For tonight, the Division has forecast generally cloudy conditions in Koshi, Lumbini, Karnali, and the hilly areas of Sudurpaschim Province, with partly cloudy skies in other Terai regions.

There is also a chance of moderate rainfall with thunder and lightning in a few hilly areas of Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim Provinces, as well as in parts of Koshi Province, and isolated areas in the rest of the Terai.
