UML report says there is no alternative to Chair Oli’s leadership

LALITPUR: A report presented at the ongoing second statute convention of the CPN-UML has concluded that there is no alternative to KP Sharma Oli in the party’s leadership.

According to Rajendra Gautam, chief of the party’s publicity and publication department and a standing committee member, leaders participating in group discussions stated that Oli remains the only choice for UML’s future leadership.

He also claimed that some media outlets circulated misleading information regarding the debates, particularly on issues of age limits and term restrictions.

Gautam informed that leaders from seven provincial and three non-provincial groups submitted their reports to the closed session. Among the key suggestions was a statute provision barring individuals who have already held constitutional appointments such as president or vice president from rejoining the party.

Provincial leaders including Krishna Prasad Jaishi (Sudurpaschim), Gulab Jung Shah (Karnali), Radha Krishna Kandel (Lumbini), Min Prasad Gurung (Gandaki), Kailash Dhungel (Bagmati), Chandreshwar Mandal (Madhes), and Ghanshyam Khatiwada (Koshi), along with non-provincial representatives Shiv Adhikari, Chudamani Jangali, and Bhakta Gurung, presented their respective reports.
