PM Oli meets Swiss Foreign Minister



KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli held a courtesy meeting today with Swiss Federal Councillor and Foreign Minister Ignazio Daniel Giovanni Cassis at the Prime Minister’s residence in Baluwatar.

The two leaders discussed ways to further strengthen the friendly relations between Nepal and Switzerland, with a focus on continued cooperation in development and governance.

Minister Cassis reaffirmed Switzerland’s commitment to supporting Nepal in key areas including federalism strengthening, transitional justice, climate change, and disaster risk management. He noted that Switzerland remains a long-standing partner in Nepal’s journey towards sustainable development.

Prime Minister Oli, welcoming the Swiss delegation, acknowledged Nepal’s difficult past marked by political instability and conflict.

He said the current government, formed with cooperation between the country’s two largest parties, is committed to development, good governance, and the protection of democratic values. He expressed gratitude for Switzerland’s continued support in Nepal’s development journey.

The meeting was also attended by Swiss Ambassador to Nepal Dr. Danielle Meuwly, officials from Nepal’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and other dignitaries.
