Four new Covid cases detected in Sudurpaschim

DHANGADHI: Four new Covid cases have been confirmed in Sudurpaschim Province over the past 24 hours, all among men recently returned from India, according to provincial health authorities.

Hemraj Joshi, the Covid contact person at the Sudurpaschim Province Health Directorate, stated that the infections were confirmed through antigen tests conducted at border points. Three cases were identified at the Trinagar checkpoint, while one case was detected at the Jhuleghat border.

“The infected individuals are from Kanchanpur, Achham, and Bajhang districts,” Joshi said. “They tested positive through antigen kits during routine screening of suspected individuals. All have been advised to remain in home isolation.”

This recent spike follows the detection of five cases on Friday, one on Thursday, and three on Wednesday — signaling a slow but steady rise in infections in the province.

In response, the Department of Health Services under the Ministry of Health and Population has directed all subordinate offices, hospitals, and laboratories to remain on alert, warning of the potential resurgence of the Covid outbreak.

Authorities are urging the public to remain cautious, especially as travel across the open border with India continues.
