Madhav Nepal accuses PM Oli of orchestrating corruption charges

KATHMANDU: Chairperson of CPN (Unified Socialist) and former Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal has accused Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli of initiating corruption charges against him out of political bias and personal vendetta.

Speaking at the inaugural convention of the party’s Madhesh Province Contact Committee in Kathmandu on Saturday, Nepal claimed that PM Oli deliberately targeted him in the Patanjali land case, driven by prejudice and political antagonism.

“Our party’s role is significant, and some individuals are visibly shaken by it. They are terrified and harbor deep prejudices,” said Nepal. “One example of this is the recent attempt to file a corruption case against me, motivated by a spirit of revenge.”

Nepal argued that a legal decision must be based on evidence and insisted that he had never misused power or caused harm to the public.

“If I ever took even a single paisa as a bribe, acquired land improperly, or engaged in any action that hurt the nation or its people, I am fully prepared to take responsibility,” he said.

He stressed that he has always acted in the national interest, without seeking personal gain, and said there is no reason for him to be alarmed. He also expressed confidence in the judiciary to deliver justice.

“If no action was taken from personal interest or for personal benefit, there is no need to be afraid,” Nepal added. “I will stand firmly against all false accusations. I believe the judiciary will uphold justice. Justice must prevail, and injustice must be defeated.”
