Govt implements constitution, facilitates amendment as per need: PM Oli

SURKHET: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has said the government has planned to proceed with the amendment of constitution as per need. The government is equally responsible to implement the national charter effectively, he shared.

In his address to a meeting of the Karnali Province Assembly (PA) on Friday, the Prime Minister said the constitution founded on citizens’ struggles and sacrifices has guaranteed the rights of all, providing opportunities to compete and explore talents. It is the duty of the government to protect and implement it by amending it as per the demand of time.

Reminding that the seven-point agreement between the CPN UML and the Nepali Congress before the formation of the incumbent government is also about the constitution’s amendment, the Prime Minister said, it will, however, not be carried out haphazardly. The national need will be kept in centre for it, he stressed.

The Head of the government echoed the need of implementing measures to increase production and productivity and added that the upcoming budget will address the concern and needs of provinces. He also utilised the forum to assert that the existing political coalition in the government continues until the next election to take place in three years.

“Be confident that this government is stable and has a vision to move forward accordingly,” he said, insisting on cooperation among the three-tier government for development and prosperity.
